Most page builder roundups rank apps by template count. I've never met a store owner who ran out of templates. They run out of publish slots, usually in late November, when the Black Friday lander and the gift guide need to go live in the same week.
So we sorted five builders by the question that shows up on the invoice. How many pages can stay live, and what does the next one cost? The five are EComposer, PageFly, GemPages, Shogun and Replo. We didn't crown a winner, because a solo candle shop and a DTC brand with its own designer shouldn't buy the same plan. For the AI side, see our AI page builder criteria post. The three-way split lives in EComposer vs PageFly vs GemPages.
Quick answer: Short version. If you need one or two live pages, EComposer, PageFly and GemPages will publish them on free plans; Shogun and Replo won't. Between 10 and 30 live pages, GemPages stays at $29/mo. EComposer ($25 to $49) and PageFly ($24 plus slot add-ons) climb as you add pages. Shogun and Replo make more sense for bigger teams.
Why live-page limits matter more than template counts in a Shopify page builder
Publish slot: one live page or section · freed when you unpublish · drafts usually free.
Seasonal pages are the usual culprit, since a summer sale page or an old gift guide can stay published for months after anyone last opened it. Count what's actually live in your theme before you compare prices.
Slot math basics: count every live landing page · count reusable sections you publish into a theme · leave drafts and previews out · add next quarter's campaigns on top.
Free plans compared: which Shopify landing page builders let you publish without paying
Free plans split two ways. EComposer, PageFly and GemPages each let one page go live. Shogun and Replo keep you in preview until you pay. If you want to point a real ad at a builder page before spending anything, that split decides your shortlist.
Can publish on Free: EComposer keeps 1 live page or section with 50 AI credits · PageFly keeps 1 published slot with 10 AI credits a month · GemPages keeps 1 published page and includes MCP access.
Preview only on Free: Shogun Free is Draft Mode with no page publishing · Replo Free lets you build and preview, then upgrade to publish.
When your theme is enough: an About page or FAQ fits native Online Store 2.0 sections · a simple promo banner needs no builder · add an app only when layouts outgrow the theme editor.
People skip the theme option a lot. Themes on Online Store 2.0 architecture already let you stack sections on any page template. An About page rarely needs a builder. Where a builder pays off is the long ad lander, or the product layout your theme just can't do. Our post on outgrowing the free Dawn theme covers where the theme editor runs out.

Paid tiers by publish limit: EComposer, PageFly, GemPages, Shogun and Replo pricing
These are monthly USD prices copied from each App Store listing on October 31, 2026. Builders reprice often. Check the listing on the day you install, not the day you read this.
EComposer: Standard $25/mo for 15 live pages or sections · $49/mo for 50 plus A/B testing and Global Blocks · top plan $129/mo with unlimited pages · 7-day free trial.
PageFly: Builder $24/mo from 5 published slots · $5 for each extra block of 5 slots · $99/mo for unlimited pages with A/B tests and heatmaps · $299/mo adds priority support.
GemPages: Build $29/mo with unlimited publish slots and 20 theme sections · $59/mo for 100 theme sections and scheduled publishing · $199/mo tier for larger teams.
Shogun: Build $39/mo for 25 published pages, or $372 a year · $199/mo for unlimited pages and content scheduling · $499/mo adds syncing between stores · A/B testing lives in a separate Shogun app.
Replo: Starter $119/mo for 15 published items, or $1,188 a year · Pro $599/mo for unlimited pages across 5 stores · 10k A/B test sessions on Starter.
| Builder | Free plan publishes? | Entry paid plan | Live pages on entry plan | App Store rating (Oct 31, 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EComposer | Yes, 1 page or section | $25/mo | 15 | 4.9 (3,475 reviews) |
| PageFly | Yes, 1 slot | $24/mo | 5, plus $5 per 5 more | 4.9 (5,918 reviews) |
| GemPages | Yes, 1 page | $29/mo | Unlimited publish slots | 4.9 (4,275 reviews) |
| Shogun | No, Draft Mode only | $39/mo | 25 | 4.8 (1,973 reviews) |
| Replo | No, previews only | $119/mo | 15 published items | 4.7 (186 reviews) |
The ratings barely separate them. Review counts do. PageFly and GemPages have been listed since 2017, with thousands of reviews behind each score. Replo has a couple hundred, so one unhappy merchant moves its average more.
Shopify landing page builder cost math at 5, 15 and 30 live pages
Sticker prices don't mean much until you plug in your own page count. We did the math for three store sizes using list prices, before annual discounts. Yearly billing cuts several of them.
Five live pages: PageFly $24 · EComposer $25 · GemPages $29 · Shogun $39 · Replo $119.
Fifteen live pages: EComposer $25 at its cap · GemPages $29 · PageFly about $34 with two slot add-ons · Shogun $39 · Replo $119 at its cap.
Thirty live pages: GemPages $29 · EComposer $49 · PageFly about $49 with five add-ons, or $99 for unlimited · Shogun $199 since Build stops at 25 · Replo about $219 with one 20-item add-on.

GemPages stays at $29 no matter how many pages you publish. EComposer and PageFly step up as you add pages, PageFly in small blocks and EComposer at its plan caps. Shogun and Replo cost more at every size, and that's by design. Replo puts A/B test sessions into Starter. Shogun's top plan syncs content between stores. If you run one store and rarely test, you'd be paying for things you won't touch.
One trap with GemPages. Its $29 plan counts theme sections separately and caps them at 20. If most of your work is sections dropped into product pages, that cap bites first.
PageFly vs Shogun and GemPages vs Replo: where each Shopify page builder fits
People search these matchups all the time, so here's how we'd call them. We read the listings and public docs. We haven't benchmarked them side by side.
PageFly vs Shogun: PageFly publishes on Free and adds heatmaps plus an AI Page Checkup at $99 · Shogun has listed on the App Store since 2015 and is Shopify Plus Certified · pick Shogun when you run several stores that share content.
GemPages vs Replo: GemPages includes sales funnels and post-purchase upsells, even on Free · Replo pairs built-in experiments with a network of Replo Experts · pick Replo when design-led ad pages drive most of your revenue.
Shogun alternatives: PageFly or GemPages if you need publishing on Free · EComposer if you want CRO add-ons inside the builder · Replo if your team lives in A/B tests.
PageFly and GemPages both list MCP connections now, so Claude or ChatGPT can read and edit pages. It's early. We wouldn't switch builders over it.

EComposer Shopify review: what each tier includes and where to be careful
Fair warning: we work with EComposer, so weigh this section with that in mind. We stuck to what the listing says. What caught our eye is the CRO tooling inside the builder. Many stores pay for those upsell and popup apps separately.
Page types covered: landing, home, product and collection pages · blog, cart, footer and 404 pages · sections you can drop into any theme.
Built-in extensions: 29+ CRO extensions on the $49 plan · cross-sell, upsell, popup and back-in-stock tools · A/B testing from the $49 plan.
Where to be careful: the free plan holds 1 live item · its review count trails PageFly and GemPages · test your heaviest page on mobile before you commit.
If that bundle fits, you can try EComposer on its free plan and publish one page before paying. Fewer apps can mean fewer scripts loading. Measure that on your own store, because we can't promise a speed gain. Test before you trust it.
How to choose a Shopify landing page builder for your store in 2027
Start with your page count, and then look at who builds your pages, because the right plan for a founder editing alone is rarely the right one for an agency or an ad-heavy brand.
Solo store, under 5 pages: stay on theme sections first · then try a free plan that publishes · move up only when a page outgrows the theme.
Growing store, 10 to 30 pages: compare GemPages flat pricing with EComposer and PageFly tiers · check which plan includes A/B testing.
Multi-store or agency: look at Shogun's content syncing · price unlimited plans against your client count.
Ad-heavy brand: Replo and PageFly both sell experiments · count the A/B session caps before you buy.
Keep a running list of every page you publish. Builders can leave pages and snippets behind after you uninstall, and that list saves you an afternoon of digging through theme files. Our guide to cleaning up leftover app code walks through it.
No pick here is a bad one, since each is priced for a different kind of team, so count your live pages and reread the listing before you pay.
