Font Audit
Font Audit is a tool that scans your store to analyze all font usage, detect performance bottlenecks, identify GDPR or compliance risks, and provide actionable insights to help you optimize how fonts are loaded across your pages.
1. How to audit fonts on a page
On Fontify Dashboard -> click Font Audit.

-
Font Optimization Score
Provides a quick overview of your store’s overall font performance and compliance status. It highlights key issues and opportunities for improvement, helping you understand exactly what needs to be optimized.

-
GDPR Compliance
Loading fonts from third-party services such as Google Fonts can cause user IP addresses and other request data to be transmitted to external servers. This data transfer may be considered a privacy risk under GDPR, especially if it happens without explicit user consent. To remain compliant, you should self-host your fonts on your own server or implement a proper consent mechanism that allows users to approve external font loading before it occurs.

-
Fonts Found
All font families, variants, and weights declared across your store. This helps you verify which fonts are truly being used on your pages and which ones are unnecessarily loaded. Identifying and removing unused fonts can significantly improve page load speed, reduce bandwidth consumption, and create a more efficient, lightweight storefront.

-
Performance
Provides detailed load-time metrics for every font file used on your store. By monitoring how long each font takes to download and render, you can easily identify slow-loading or oversized files that may be affecting your page speed. With this insight, you can optimize font delivery by using modern formats like WOFF2, applying font-display: swap to prevent text delays, or preloading critical fonts to ensure they load as early and efficiently as possible.

-
Ask AI for Recommendations
AI Recommendations analyzes all collected font data and automatically generates a detailed, tailored set of optimization suggestions. These recommendations help you improve font loading performance, reduce unnecessary page weight, and address any compliance or privacy concerns identified during the audit.
2. How can I view the audit history of a page
On Font Audit page -> click Latest Scan Results

Each page can store up to 5 audit history records.
